J. Hellend grew up in San Francisco, where he currently teaches high school creative writing and visual art. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in several publications (see link), including various punk and graffiti zines that no longer exist. His first novel, At The Mailbox, is complete and unpublished. He lives in Oakland, CA with his wife, daughter, and dog.
